A List You’ll Never Forget
From an InsideADHD.org subscriber
Weekday mornings can be chaotic for our 5th grader. We found that having a structured morning routine is the best way for her to get ready for school on time. One day, we sat down with our daughter and came up with a creative way for her to remember her morning routine. Using the first letter of each of the steps of her morning routine, our daughter came up with a silly sentence that she can recite each morning, as a mini-checklist.
For example, using the first letter of each of the things she needs to remember to do,
Shower
Bed made
Brush Teeth
Lunch packed
Eat Breakfast
Medication
Bookbag ready
our daughter made up the sentence:
Six bumbling badgers leave enormous mountains of buttons.
Reciting it each morning reminds her to stick to the routine. It’s silly, but she’ll never forget it!
